Starbucks addicts (it’s a good Starbucks!) and outdoors-people are at home in this 48 square mile (48.039 sq mi or 124.421 km2) township, where recreation trails for walking, hiking, horseback riding, cross country skiing and mountain biking are plentiful (maps are available on the township website).

With just under 16,000 residents (2010 census), it is the largest township in Hunterdon County and consists of several unincorporated sections, including Barley Sheaf, Centerville, Darts Mill, Potterstown, Readington, Stanton, Three Bridges, Whitehouse, and Whitehouse Station.

Recreation is the name of the game in Readington Township and residents can be found golfing at one of the area’s many local golf courses including Readington’s own Stanton Ridge Golf & Country ClubBeaver Brook Country Club (Clinton Township), Fiddler’s Elbow Country Club (Branchburg Township), and Trump National Golf Club (Bedminster). If you prefer team sports, the township runs a year-round recreation program, offered to all ages from preschool through adult, where you can get your game on! Need a break from the chaos? Breathe in some fresh air with a day trip to nearby Round Valley Reservoir, a local favorite for boating, hiking and picnicking.

When it’s time to hit the books, the Readington Township Public Schools serve students in Kindergarten through eighth grade with four public school facilities. Students in Kindergarten through third grade attend either the Three Bridges School or the Whitehouse School. Students in 4th and 5th grades attend the Holland Brook School and students in grades 6 through 8 attend the Readington Middle School. Hunterdon Central Regional High School serves students grades 9-12 in Readington Township..

Other area schools include The Willow School, a small independent coeducational day school for students preschool through eighth grade, Gill St. Bernards, a private, nonsectarian, coeducational, college preparatory day school, and The Purnell School, a progressive private all-girls boarding high school.

Commuting to work more your thing? By car, Readington is 65 minutes to NYC, 45 minutes to Newark, and 65 minutes to Trenton. Readington’s train station, Whitehouse Station, is an approximate 105 minute commute to NYC. Other nearby train stations include High Bridge (120 minutes to NYC), Gladstone (110 minutes to NYC), and Somerville (85 minutes to NYC).
