There are significant benefits in preparing a home for sale before it goes on the market but keep in mind that there are a lot of projects that don’t provide good return on their investment, i.e., the value they add to your home is less than what the renovation costs. The National Association of Realtors publishes a report annually on this relationship and this year’s report can be read online.
However, because each property is unique, we recommend that you contact Leaf, Realtors® if you’re trying to figure out if renovations, additions, etc. make sense for your property, either in preparation for a sale or as a short- or long-term investment. We’re happy to give you our opinion based on what we’ve seen of other properties in your area and what we’ve heard from buyers about their expectations.
