Welcome to horse country, where the “mane” attraction is so beautiful, you almost won’t believe you’re in New Jersey. Tewksbury comprises of five villages, Oldwick, Fairmount, Mountainville, Cokesbury, and Pottersville spanning just over 31 square miles (31.699 sq mi or 82.101 km2) with approximately 6,000 residents (2010 census). Located in Hunterdon County, if fresh air and scenic landscapes are your cup of tea, Tewksbury may be the place for you!

An equestrian paradise, Tewksbury is home to a myriad of horse trails and riding clubs. It’s not uncommon to share the road with a horse or two every now and then! (Please remember your driving etiquette- 5mph when horses are present.) Need a break from all that riding? The Tewksbury Inn (or “The Tewks”) is the perfect place to grab a yummy bite to eat or to relax on the patio with a few friends and a cocktail. Switch it up at Whittemore in Oldwick, where you can spend the day hiking 11 miles of trails and spend the evening having your fill of wine and cheese at a Partake & Paint workshop.

When it’s time to hit the books, The Tewksbury Township Schools serve students from kindergarten through eighth grade with two public school facilities, Tewksbury Elementary School (K-4), a 2011 National Blue Ribbon School, and Old Turnpike School (5-8). Public school students in ninth through twelfth grades attend Voorhees High School, a 2015 National Blue Ribbon School, in Glen Gardner.

Other area schools include The Willow School, a small independent coeducational day school for students preschool through eighth grade, Gill St. Bernards, a private, nonsectarian, coeducational, college preparatory day school, and The Purnell School, a progressive private all-girls boarding high school. There are several preschools that are popular among Tewksbury parents, including Haytown Nursery School, Pottersville Nursery School in Pottersville, and The Kids’ House in Pottersville.

Commuting to work more your style? By car, Tewksbury is 65 minutes to NYC, 50 minutes to Newark, and 75 minutes to Trenton. Nearby train stations include High Bridge (120 minutes to NYC), Gladstone (110 minutes to NYC), and Readington/Whitehouse Station (105 minutes to NYC).
